オーストラリア旅行 5日目 デイドリーム島
アンディとヨウコ、ヨウコの家族、アンディの叔父夫妻、それとブローディーとわたしでデイドリーム アイランドへ。
リゾートですよ！おハイソですよ！
島についてすぐさまシュノーケリングの道具を借りて海へ。
島の裏側は海岸からすぐのところに珊瑚があり、なかなかきれいな青いベラや緑のベラや巨大なベラや…ベラばっかりかよ！うそうそ。チョウチョウウオも少しいました。あとイシダイのようでぜんぜん違う魚がうじゃうじゃいました。透明度は、このへんの海はミネラルが多くエメラルドグリーンなので、きれいなのですがスカーンとは抜けてはいません。
午後、みんなは散歩をするというので一人、じゃないや途中までブローディーも付き合ってくれたんだ。釣竿を借りて桟橋からキャスト！
しようと思ったんだけどロッドは物干し竿みたいだわ、道糸は30号ぐらいの太さだわ、オモリはチュッパチャップスぐらいあるわ、針は小指を曲げたぐらいの大きさだわ、と陸っぱりでは無理！という仕掛け。えさは冷凍のイカでまな板と包丁がセットでついてきました。どんな釣りだよ。あ、オーストラリアでは普通なんですか。そうですか。

もうヤダ。
途中、様子を見に来た人が教えてくれたんですが、昨日は裏っ側の桟橋で生きた小魚をえさにして大きな魚が釣れたそうです。やはり日本から釣竿と針を持って来るべきだった…。荷物がいっぱいで入らなかったんですよ。
【オーストラリア豆知識】
釣り師はどこでもおしゃべりが好きだ。
朝はカフェで安いパンケーキ。うすっぺらくてでっかいパンケーキでした。卵、ソーセージ、焼きトマトを頼んだブローディー、あまりの量の多さに絶句。10$。
夕食はCalamari(カラマリ)。イカリングフライです。日本語で「空回り」といえば通じると思います。カラマリとチップスとサラダ、だけ。日本人的には主食がないと不安になりますよね。イカはいったんミンチにしたものだった。がっかり。
